Possibly Harold George Smith was born in 1912 (North Witchford Q2-1912 3B:936), son of George and Charlotte Smith (née KENT), of Greenside, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Husband of Ann Smith (nee Forster), of 20 Burnhills Gardens, Greenside, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham, and later of Brandon, Suffolk. One son. .
Father was from Cambridgeshire, but mother was a Brandon girl. Baptised in St Wendreda, March on 26th April 1912 when his parents (father a blacksmith) were living at 12 The Avenue,March

According to the Ryton war memorial researchers and Newcastle Evening Chronicle:
In 1941, in C.Durham, he married Ann Smith (née FORSTER), of 20 Burnhills Gardens, Greenside, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham, and later of Brandon, Suffolk. One son.

There is much scope for error here

At the end of April 1943 the Allies were grouping and preparing for the final advance in Tunisia. The 1st Queen's Own had 32 killed on 29th April 1943 when fighting near Sidi Abdullah.
